Buying a camper or motorhome is quite a big decision and a lot of money to lay out.

Why not try one before you make that financial outlay.

The Lunar Roadstar 570 is ideal for the first time motorhome owner.  It has all the comforts of home and is not too big so is really easy to drive.

The difference betwen a campervan and a motorhome is usually the fact that the motorhome has it's own purpose built loo and like ours, maybe even a shower too. The camper is based on a van style body, whilst the motorhome has a special, purpose built body behind the cab.  Motorhomes are insulated with a twin wall, so are warmer than most campervans.  This means they can be used during colder weather.  The motorhome walls are aluminium to minimise weight.

The interior layouts vary quite considerably.  Some have a lounge layout at the rear whilst others have a fixed double bed, the washroom or kitchen at the rear.

We personally prefer the lounge layout at the back enabling us to relax and view the countryside from the big picture windows on three sides.  Others prefer a fixed seating come dining arrangement or a fixed bed but we found that rather cramped - it all depends on your personal preferences.

We bought our Lunar second hand. New vehicles drop in price quite considerably over the first few years after the warranty finishes.  Much of the maintenance can be carried out yourself if you are reasonably handy.  You do need to have regular habitation checks and servicing of course - that must be done by professionals.  The habitation checks cover interior appliances (e.g. same as the old 'Corgi' gas check) and also check for things like dampness within the insulated walls.

Most motorhomes and campers do very little mileage over the year - they sit on the drive for long periods.  This is why we decided to let it out on hire.  We cannot get away as often as we would like so decided to cover the cost of keeping it by hiring it out.

Hire insurance is expensive and there are two ways of handling this - either on a daily basis directly to the hirer - or on a full fleet hire policy.  The latter is what we have.  If you are interested in doing the same we can point you in the right direction to find out about insurance and how to go about setting up web sites etc. or even advertise if for you on ours.

We can provide the telepone number of a local B & B for the night before your pickup if you prefer to travel to the area the night before.

If you are staying locally or live locally, we can sometimes arrange to do the paperwork and for you to load the van the night before so that you can make an earlier start in the morning.
